Back at it.
Currently I'm back on the HCG diet. Took a few days off, and that probably wasn't my best idea. I just got done re-loading. Which means for the first two days of the diet you need to eat a lot of fatty foods to gain fat, so that when you start the VLCD (very low calorie diet) you have the energy to keep going. Today, all I've had is some water, coffee, and I had some leftovers from the night before. It was taco meat, with diced potatoes, and corn all mixed together. The taco meat is ground turkey, so it's a nice lean protein. I need to start drinking more water though, and weening myself off of caffeine yet again. I get into the habit of drinking pop, and drinking energy drinks, and then I end up with massive headaches when I don't drink caffeine all day. Like nauseatingly miserable headaches that no Tylenol or Ibuprofen will get rid of. So I usually end up weening myself off of caffeine, quitting for a few weeks, and then drinking it all over again :( This time will be different though. The rest of this year is going to be about change and no excuses. I can't keep being over weight. It's depressing, frustrating, and miserable. I want to walk into a clothing store and know no matter what I put on it will look good. I want to wear a shirt, and not worry about my fat hanging out. I don't want to worry about muffin tops, jiggly arms, or pooches. I am going to do this, I am going to have the will power to succeed, and I AM GOING TO BE SKINNY!

Miracles Do Happen
So, I decided to start doing the HCG diet, minus the actual HCG drops/pill. And I have to say it's probably the hardest thing ever, yet the best thing ever. You can't cook anything in any type of fat, carbs are limited, no sugar, and your required to have a very low caloric intake for the first two weeks. I took a week off of the diet, only because with my significant other having medical procedures done, cooking has been kinda hard for me to do. But, when I began the diet, I lost a total of six pounds in three days. Its the most amazing thing I've ever done. Am I hungry in between meals? At first, yes. But my stomach got used to not eating a lot, and then I wasn't very hungry in between meals. I've gained a pound back off of the diet, but I have been off of it for a few days, and my diet since hasn't been the greatest because I've been eating on the go a lot. But, I'm going to start back up on Monday. I swear by this diet though, and the first day or two will test your will power, but, in the end I feel the results are very much worth it.

Update
So, I realized I haven't done a very good job at keeping everybody updated on what's going on with my diet and exercise program. And part of that is because I'm kinda ashamed of how things have been going. I haven't really been eating at all during the day. Like, actually I don't eat during the day. I've been taking ant acids when I get hungry, because I get heart burn really bad. But every time I take an antacid I am no longer hungry. So I just haven't been eating. But at night time I eat dinner with Joe and after I eat once, I snack pretty much until I go to bed. Every night, when I go to sleep, I think ok, I won't do this tomorrow. And I justify it with not having eaten all day. But I know all I'm doing is having my body hold on to every ounce of fat I consume.
As for exercising....yeah that's not been happening at all. I haven't worked out since day three I think. I just missed a day, and then it just kept going. Everyday, I'd say oh I'll work out tomorrow, no big deal.
So, to end this post I'm going to say, that starting tomorrow (as it is too late for me to workout tonight) I will no longer use the excuse, I'll do it tomorrow.
I can't keep living this way.

Some Interesting Facts I Found Out
While on the lookout for an amazing butt workout, I came across a video that I think everyone should check out.
http://www.beyonddiet.com/bd/landing?food=avocado&a=380
It's a real eye opener to what you should really be eating when dieting. It basically talks about how sugar and processed foods boost insulin and make the liver work harder, which makes it harder for your body to burn fat. It explains how to create a better metabolism. If you're someone like me, who has a slow metabolism, this is amazing to learn. Basically it explains why eating more organic foods can help your metabolism. It's easier for your body to break down the food, and it helps avoid blood sugar spikes which makes your body produce insulin, which in turn makes your body store fat. But, at the same time, its not the typical starvation diet. It allows you to actually EAT! That's right, EAT! But here's the catch, it can only be foods that are actually healthy. The lady in the video says, "Read the label on the back. If there's ingredients you can't pronounce, or don't know, then your body is the same. It can't break down things that are foreign." Which makes a lot of sense, if your body is try to break down additives and other chemicals found in processed foods, it's not going to be able to do what it really needs to do. It'll slow down your metabolism, because your body will be working sooo hard to break down the chemicals, and essentially try to figure out what needs to stay and what needs to go. For example, things that only contain ONE ingredient in them should stay in your diet. Such as chicken breasts, eggs, and nuts. Things such as "Low-Fat" Muffins, artificial sweeteners, and orange juice need to go. Now, I'm sure if you actually squeeze your own orange juice with real oranges it can stay, but if you look on the back of orange juice you buy at the store, whats one of the biggest ingredients? SUGAR! Big no-no. Cause like I said before, you can't have your blood sugar get too high.
The ideal fat burning zone for your blood sugar is around ninety. And I think it's funny that I found this out now. It actually makes sense to me now why I have gained sooo much weight. The reason is, my freshman year of college, I was advised to keep my blood sugar in check, because I was pre-diabetic. And up till about two weeks ago, my blood sugar was almost always at two hundred or more. So, why no matter how much I worked out didn't it go down, and why didn't I lose more weight? Because I was still consuming foods that broke down to sugar in my body. Which in turn caused my blood sugar to spike, and made my body produce insulin to regulate the sugar in my blood. Each time insulin was produced, my body would hold on to fat. Each time my blood sugar spiked, my metabolism would get slower and slower. And quite honestly finding this out, THRILLS me. Because it makes losing weight SOO much simpler. I just need to eat foods that are actually healthy. Foods with ingredients I can pronounce. And by doing so, my blood sugar should stay in my target range which in turn will help me lose weight.

Day Two
So, I'm posting this post rather early, because I don't think I will be able to get on later. Today has been an ok food day. I had beef jerky for breakfast. I know, I know, I probably could have picked something healthier, but I was on the run, and beef jerky is packed with protein. For lunch I had a cheeseburger...a horrible food choice. I already regret it. I haven't worked out yet, because I haven't been at home all day, but I will be working out shortly. I'm hoping I'll be able to last a little longer with my 30 day shred video today than I did yesterday. And for dinner I will be making fish fillets for my boyfriend and myself. I'm baking them to avoid extra calories. I'll also have some canned vegetables, and maybe a small baked potato for carbohydrates. I've done a little better so far today with pop. I had a bottle of Coke Zero.
Now to get into why I made a bad food choice. Lack of will power. Plain and simple. I was craving a burger, and instead of eating something healthier, I caved. I desperately need to change this. Because now, just minutes after eating, I feel very remorseful. I know it was a horrible decision. Will power is the one biggest thing I need to work on.

Day One Progress
So today was kind of a good look at where I stand physically. I did my Jillian Michaels Thirty Day Shred workout video. While I thought I was in moderate shape, I learned after three minutes how out of shape I truly am. I could barely breathe. This not only motivates me to want to lose weight, but makes me take a look at other lifestyle choices. Such as smoking. While I have a very real fear of quitting and gaining a bunch of weight, if I can keep a healthy diet and work out daily, what is to stop me from quitting? Nothing. I think quitting is going to be a goal I have.
Today was a good day, as far as diet and exercise go. But then again all my diet/exercise programs go flawlessly for the first week. And then something happens and I go back to old ways. Such as I have a busy day, and don't workout. Then I fall back into the mindset of "oh I'll do it tomorrow". Or I'll go out to eat and have something unhealthy, and think well it's already a bad food day, might as well eat bad the rest of the day. I feel like, whenever I start to make progress, I sabotage myself in some way. I really don't know why I do it, especially when I know how much happier I feel when I workout everyday, and when I eat right everyday. I just don't get it.
As far as what I ate today, I started the day off with a Carnation Breakfast drink. It's a chocolate powder you put in milk, stir and enjoy. It has essentially everything you would get in a regular breakfast with less calories. Unfortunately, I was starving an hour after I drank it. I did not give in and eat though, I drank two bottles of water, and that really helped fill me back up. For lunch, I had a spinach salad, with some chopped chicken, 2 tbsp of ranch dressing, diced onion, and a handful of mozzarella cheese. This was very satisfying. I was not hungry immediately after eating. For dinner, I had a Gorton's fish fillet, baked, a small cup of brown rice, and some green beans. I also drank pop today, I switched to diet though which is a good change. I know I need to cut it out all together, but I need to wean myself off of the caffeine. I drank so much pop everyday, that if I try to quit cold turkey, I suffer major headaches that do not go away with just Tylenol or Advil.
I think all in all today was a pretty good day. I just hope that for once I can keep it up instead of sabotaging myself.

Why I'm Where I Am.
Growing up I ALWAYS battled with my weight. At the age of 8, I weighed 80 pounds. I lost a decent amount of weight my seventh grade year, only to have the weight creep back on each following year. Then I went to college. Between the late night munching, and not exercising, I packed on a total of 160 pounds. That is twice the weight I had weighed coming into college. Not only did it affect my physical features, but it has affected me mentally. I got to the point where I avoided looking in mirrors. I hated how I looked. I was disgusting. But at the same time, I was in denial. I always thought "oh I didn't gain that much, its just a few pounds. I can lose it, no problem." But I was very very wrong.
I'm a bit of an emotional eater. When I'm stressed, upset, angry, happy, bored, etc. I put food in my mouth. I always regret it afterwards, but during it I feel better. I know they say don't fix your problems with eating, but food at times seems to be the only constant in my life. It seems to be the only thing to comfort me.
But anyway, here I am. After yo-yo dieting for three years, after trying to starve myself on and off for three years, after starting every exercise program there is for the past three years, I'm going to actually try. Why now? Because I'm turning 22 in two weeks, and as you get older it gets harder to lose weight. And as you get older, the extra weight becomes worse and worse for your body. I want to live a long life, I want to have children and watch them grow old. I want to watch grandchildren play in my backyard. And the only way I can do that, is by being healthy so I can make sure I'm around.
So how is this blog going to work? Well, my plan is to log in each evening. Explain what I ate that day, what exercise I did, how I feel, and if I've had a bad food day, figure out exactly why I did. I'm not expecting too many people to follow this. And that's ok. Because if anything at least I will make myself accountable for all of the things I do each day.
